Painter Giovanni Battista Bellucci was born in 1683 in Venice. His father Antonio was a court painter in Vienna and Düsseldorf. In 1716, at the death of his patron, the Elector Johann Wilhelm, Bellucci left Düsseldorf for London where the Duke of Chandos was his major patron. Giovanni accompanied him. When Antonio returned to Italy in July 1722, Giovanni stayed on in Britain. He made a career as a portrait painter. He died in 1760.
