Printmaker and publisher Gaetano Testolini was born around 1760 (details are lacking). In 1790, he was invited by Francesco Bartolozzi to join him in London. He travelled there in company of his talented pupil Luigi Schiavonetti whose work he sold under his own name. Luigi [Louis] was later employed by Bartolozzi and became an eminent engraver. By 1796 Testolini had established a workshop at no. 73 Cornhill, near the Royal Exchange, from where he acted as a publisher and printmaker. He died in London in 1818.
