1840-1894 - Regent Street (West End)

Marble merchant, statuary, and art dealer Egisippo Luigi Norchi was born around 1812 in Volterra, Tuscany. Date of his arrival in Britain is not known, but up to 1842 he was working in partnership with Pietro [Peter] Pizzala as importers of alabaster and marble ornaments from no. 91 Quadrant, Regent Street (the firm was dissolved in March 1842). From 1851 he was operating from no. 18 King William Street, Strand. He was naturalised as a British citizen in 1859. He died in London in January 1894.
